Good question. Engines themselves are pretty solid, but if there is a serious issue like overheating or low oil or whatever the vehicle will tell you. What you do need to check regularly are your oil levels, oil filters, and tires. In a perfect world your van would have come with a manual and you could have used that to know when to check things like your air filters and your brakes and your transmission fluid, but I'll note down some best practices for you.
